Yorkshire Rose Quilters’ Guild of Toronto presents its 2018 Quilt Show

The 2018 Yorkshire Rose Quilt Show is happening this September! Come be inspired by the quilts made by our Guild Members. These quilts have been created through educational workshops or through individual design but they all share in talent, time, and creativity.

Included in our Quilt Show is a gallery of our Members’ hand made wares for sale, a Vendors’ Mall for a one stop shop-hop, and a Tea Room offering you a seat to rest and refresh with beverages or a light meal.

With your entry fee you will get a small handmade gift and be eligible for one of the numerous door prizes.
There is also opportunity to participate in a draw for three wonderful prizes: an ELNA Lotus sewing machine, and two lap quilts (one named Fall Frolic and one named Holiday Cards). The draw will be held on site at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday but you do not need to be present to win.

Mark your calendars for our Quilt Show and Members’ Sale!

Sewing for Profit

Sewing for profit might seem like it can take the fun out of your favourite hobby. Or maybe it seems like a natural way to make a little money - you are sewing anyway!

So Sew Easy has an interesting post about what it takes to sell your sewing

The comment about making your product stand out from the crowd is a good one. You can sometimes see the same items over and over again at craft shows. What is special about your product that would make people buy it?

And profit is always a big concern. It can be hard to balance what people will pay and what you need to cover costs and time (don't forget your time - it's valuable too). Oh, and remember that what is in your stash isn't really free!

Do you have a favourite item that you like to make and sell? Do you have any tips or suggestions about the best ways to sell your work? Are you thinking about getting into selling your sewing? Are you going to sell items at our Quilt Show?
