Happy March Fellow Quilters!!!
It's hard to believe, we are at the tail end of what seemed to me to be a pretty quick, and somewhat painless winter here in Ontario. We seemed to have had a relatively mild winter up to this point, and with only a few weeks left, I'm hoping for the "out like a lamb" version of March.
What's Been Happening ?
Our Guild has continued to meet each month virtually, and have had a full and exciting list of speakers to date, including our February speaker, Fibre Artist and Surface Design Educator Christina Thomas. Christiana took our members through her quilt and surface design journey, delighting our members with many of her incredible works of art. Following her speaking engagement, Christina then conducted our Guilds first virtual workshop titled, "Drop Your feed dogs - Virtual Surface Design Workshop". It was an afternoon that included basic free motion education including thread, tension and machine details, followed by an opportunity to dip our toes into surface design using felt and free motion quilting. It was a fun and informative way to spend a gloomy Wednesday afternoon! Thanks to Christina and all the Guild members and guests who participated.
What's Coming Up In March?
Please be sure to join us on Wednesday March 10th for our next Guild meeting when Debbie and Shelly, the owners of East Coast Quilting Co. in St. John’s, Newfound-land and Labrador will be our presenters. They will provide insight as to how their store came to be, insights on new East Coast trends, what it is like to run a business on an island. Per-haps a virtual tour will ensue!
